I'm guessing there is an adjusting period, because he is less stable with shoes on.
Also, they don't make very cute shoes for new walkers. The selection was not very large. The saleswoman told me not to get an open toe shoe if he is still crawling because he will scrape his toes. She also recommended only buying 1 pair of shoes because he will soon grow out of them.
So I went with the most practical pair...stride rite, brown sandals. But to be honest, I'd much rather see him in a more "manly" pair of shoes like some tennis shoes or something! These are just too fancy for my taste.
Anyway, here are some pics and a video of Chase walking in his new shoes. A size 5, 1 wide (for those chubby toes)!!

I am so bummed, our local Stride Rite closed! :( I went last week to get Libby measured. But they have a website and you can print off a chart to measure little feet at home.
Gavin had that exact same pair. We bought those 2 summers in a row. He loved them. They call them "baby guppies". They stop making them after a certain size and he outgrew that sandal last year. I think they are really cute and they last forever!
Those shoes are so cute! Chase looks adorable walking around. Such a big boy now!
Oh and he's in a bigger shoe size than Libby! She's still in a 4 and her sandals still slip off! lol.
Okay, Emma is between an 4-5 and she will be 2 years old next month! I guess she will have tiny feet.

thanks so much for your remarks on our blog. my brother and sis-in-law have a 6 month old and he was the same way - couldn't stand not knowing. now he says he's glad he was surprised. he wouldn't have done it differently!

Cute shoes!! He looks so proud walking in them. We did Robeez for our first walker shoes, and even those were a little tough at first!
Cute!! I love those shoes. Brady wore them every summer until they no longer made him in his size, which made me so sad because that meant he was turning into a big boy. Hudson actually has 2 pairs because he wears them everyday and is so rough on shoes. We try to play in one pair and wear the others to church! They are also one of the few shoes which come in extra wide width!
I LOVE HIS WHOLE OUTFIT--he looks like a little college man--so PRECIOUS (MUCH BETTER than those 'John-Johns!) You know our pediatrician said that Nike shoes are good shoes to start off with because they make wide sizes. She also said that they were just as good if not better than Stride Rite. SO Cute!
