Corks N Canvas

Friday night I met some girlfriends at Corks N Canvas in Mandeville. I was a bit skeptical because I cannot even write my name straight, much less draw a picture on a blank canvas and paint it. I was going more for the "Cork" portion of the evening and to have a fun girls night out.

I must say, I had a great time. And even though my picture was the ugliest one of the night, I am darn proud of it. It was a huge accomplishment for someone with my lack of artistic ability and Shane couldn't get over that I did it all by myself.

I highly recommend doing this if you haven't tried it yet, and I look forward to doing it again!

Here are the only pics I took of the night (I was busy concentrating on my artwork). Gotta love the purple teeth!

Ethan's new tricks: holding his head up, sitting in the bumbo chair and trying to eat his entire hand! How cute is he?!?!?!!

Memorial Weekend Beach Trip

Shane and I took the kids and joined my sister, Julie, and her family at the beach for Memorial Weekend. We had such a good time. I don't think I had the chance to hold Ethan for longer than 5 minutes because Jalyn was doing such a good job loving all over him. I can't wait until she is old enough to babysit!

Chase and Rylie had their moments. They were either playing great together or fighting and telling on each other. Phew, I am so glad I have only one two year old at a time...I don't know how you moms of multiples survive the toddler years!

Ethan did so well for his first beach trip. We just strapped him in the jogging stroller and parked him under the umbrella. He lasted for over an hour and a half each time. Chase was way more interested in the pool than the beach. He said the sand was "dirty".

While we were there, my brother-in-law, Tory (the chef) cooked a FANTASTIC meal for us. It was so delicious! We had paneed fish with a crabmeat, shrimp and scallop wine sauce with mushroom risotto and fresh salad with homemade dressing. I cannot even begin to describe to you how yummy this meal was and how embarrassed I was that I ate every single bite in a matter of 10 minutes!

Today was Ethan's two month well baby visit. He weighed in at 10lbs. 14 oz (25%) and measured 23" in length (25-50%) and 15" for head (10%). Poor baby got two shots today, but took it pretty well. Ethan definitely has reflux so the doctor is increasing his Zantac meds and we're going to start adding rice cereal to his bottles to thicken it up. We've already been through an extreme case of reflux with Chase, so we're pros at the reflux thing by now. In fact, Chase still struggles with reflux issues and is a big reason why we have hardwood floors in the house (FYI to other moms who have children with projectile reflux...vomit is much easier to clean off a hard surface than carpet)!

Also, Ethan is favoring his right side tremendously. It's a struggle to get him to turn to the left and now the right side of his head is extremely flat. We have to send him to physical therapy to work with Ethan turning to his left side so his poor lopsided head will round out. What a stinker!

Happy 2 Months, Ethan!

Our Little Man turned two months old today! Things have definitely gotten a lot easier lately. We're now on a schedule so the day is easier to plan.

Last night, Ethan went 9 hours without a feeding! Unfortunately, he insists on skipping the late evening bottle (10:30 pm) instead of the middle of the night bottle. We tried for weeks waking him up at 10:30 to feed him one last time before bed so he would go longer in the night, but we could never wake him up enough to eat more than an ounce. It was pointless. So we tried skipping that feeding and he still wakes up at the same time (around 3:00 am). Last night he ate at 6:30, went to bed around 8:30 and didn't wake up until 3:30. Yeah!!!! I hope this means we're getting close to sleeping through the night!

Here is Ethan for his 2 month lamb picture. Sorry he's in his crawfish outfit again, but it's getting so tight and I wanted to get one more wear before he outgrows it.

The first picture is Chase helping himself to "breakfast" while I feed Ethan in the morning. The second picture is the same day, Chase helping himself to a "snack" while I once again feed Ethan. Chase clearly is a fan of chips. Don't worry Collins...they're both Frito Lay :-)

Chase seems to have a better green thumb than me :-)

I don't know who is more worn out after one of our jogs around the neighborhood, me or Ethan?

Cooing Ethan

Lately, Ethan has been smiling and cooing up a storm. It is so adorable and Chase loves when Ethan smiles at his big brother!

Yesterday we were playing out in the yard and Chase was of course barefoot (he always takes his shoes off). There were a bunch of ants around so I told him to go inside and put some shoes on his feet. He responded with, "Okay Mommy". I was curious to see what he came out with and the result was pretty darn funny! He threw on his spiderman slippers and his winter wool cap for an added accessory. Check out our adorable crawfish outfits! Paw Paw, we're ready for another one of your yummy crawfish boils!

Happy Birthday, Shane!

Tomorrow (Cinco de Mayo) is Shane's 32nd Birthday. We celebrated by going to dinner on Saturday night to La Provence. Maw Maw and Pops came over to watch Chase and Ethan so Shane and I could enjoy a night out. Wow, it was a lot tougher than I imagined to get out of the house and we ended up being 30 minutes late for our reservation. They gave our table away, so Shane and I enjoyed a cocktail at the bar before dinner while we waited for another table. We had a nice dinner and it was really great to spend some alone time with Shane. Happy Birthday, Sweetie...we love you!
