Poll

Submit your vote on our new poll for the baby's arrival date (located on the top, right of the blog)! Our due date is March 27th, but I've been hoping for an early arrival.

As of right now, I do not plan on inducing, but nothing has been set in stone.

FYI...Chase was induced 5 days early due to decels, but it still took him forever to make his grand entrance!

Couch Potato?

As some of you know, as a baby Chase would not watch one second of television. Call me a horrible mother, but I tried so hard to get him to watch just 20 minutes of anything so I could get things done around the house. We had every single Baby Einstein DVD and tried all the other shows that my other mommy friends swore by. Nothing worked! I remember my sister being able to put her daughter (who is only 6 weeks older that Chase) in her bouncy seat with Baby Einstein on and she would be perfectly content...I used to pray for that!

It was about 1 year ago (for Taylor Jernigan's 2nd birthday), we bought a DVD player for the car to help out with our car rides (Chase threw massive fits in the car that always led to several spouts of vomiting and mad chaos). We thought maybe the DVD player might calm him down in the car. It took a long time, but eventually it helped for our longer car rides, and then Chase started to like cartoons.

Now a year later, I think I've created a couch potato! If there is a show on tv that he really likes (Max & Ruby, Mickey Mouse Club House or Wuzby to name a few), you can't even talk to him because he's so engrossed in the show. He loves his cartoons, but fortunately I can still get him away from the TV for some outside play or to read some books (just not while the show is still on)!

So I think I taught my child a bad habit, but to be honest, it really does make life a lot easier and I'm able to make dinner or take a shower without a screaming child, so I'm not too upset about it...just as long as Shane and I can keep it under control. Plus it always cracks me up to see how relaxed Chase is while kicked back on the sofa watching his show :-)

Here are some pics of my couch potato. The last pic was him trying to see the tv over my head while taking the picture.

Like Father, Like Son: Chase is picking his nose, watching tv and making poo poo all at the same time!

35 weeks!

Today I am 35 weeks pregnant...only a month to go! At 32 weeks I stopped taking the brethine and felt a million times better. But at 34 weeks I "hit a wall"! I am officially ready to have our little peanut out of my belly and in my arms. I know we need to go a little longer, but physically and emotionally, I am ready :-) Pregancy needs to be 30 weeks, 40 weeks is just too long! Shane compares it to golf. He says it should be 14 holes because 18 is a little too long.

Here is my 35 week progression picture:

On Wednesday, Chase and I went to meet Shane at work downtown for lunch and then we met Carrie and Connor at the Aquarium. Chase had a blast waiting outside watching the ferry load and take off, but started to get a bit cranky at the aquarium since it was past his usual nap time.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Heart's Day Everyone!

Shane surprised me by having flowers delivered to the house. Chase loves them, too!

We're celebrating by going to a birthday party this morning and then having a nice family day. Shane and I will have a romantic dinner at home once Chase goes to bed. Wow how times have changed, he-he!

Great Weekend!

The weather this weekend was so great that we just had to spend most of it outside (not that I got any pictures while outside).

We spent all Saturday morning playing outside and then Shane and I went to Baton Rouge for Squirrel & Katie's wedding shower. Even the shower was held outside at Oysters on the Half Shell. We had a wonderful night, I think I laughed the entire time!

Sunday we went to breakfast (which was an ordeal since Chase is not really restaurant friendly) and then came home and took a wagon ride to feed the ducks. This was my longest walk since everything happened at 25 weeks, but everything was fine. We spent the rest of the morning playing outside and then we went to the new park in downtown Abita Springs in the afternoon. Chase had so much fun playing with his Daddy all weekend, it was so great having so much family time.

Chase patiently waiting for Mommy and Daddy to get dressed so we can go outside and play:

Shane taking any opportunity he can to cuddle with Chase (he doesn't usually give much affection since that would require staying still):

Bird's Nest

We don't know what Chase does in his sleep, but lately his hair is in every single direction when he wakes up in the morning. I tried my mom and sister's idea of using conditioner in his bath at night to soften his hair and let it lay flat, but that doesn't seem to work. I even tried blow drying it before bed to make sure it's all dry before he lays down at night, but that doesn't seem to do the trick either.

It's quite comical when he wakes up, but then when I try to brush it in the morning Chase throws a huge fit. So now he goes around town sporting his "bird's nest" hairdo!

House Updates

Here are the most recent pictures of all the updates we did to our house over the last two weeks. I absolutely love all of the changes! Now we just need to add a few new items eventually (i.e, rugs, window treatments, wall art, etc...)

We painted the master bedroom and replaced the carpet with hardwood floors:

We painted our master bathroom to match our bedroom:

We painted the playroom/office and replaced the carpet with hardwood floors:

We painted an accent wall behind our fireplace:

We replaced the carpet with hardwood floors in the small hallway between Chase's bedroom and the nursery (it was a high traffic area to our guest bathroom and we already had hardwood floors in the living room):

We've been busy lately having some home improvements done in the house before our little peanut makes his arrival. We had a few rooms painted and replaced some carpet with hardwood floors. It's been pretty chaotic around here, but Chase has handled it just great. He even enjoyed a pinic on the floor before we took up the carpet, which he thought was the best thing ever.

We had a great superbowl Sunday! We went over to the Vargas home where we were treated liked kings! We had 5 different kinds of wings, steak filets, twiced baked potatoes and more! Chase and Connor had a blast playing together and Daddy's superbowl square hit at 7-7!!! Thank you Carrie and Marcos for being such gracious hosts!

The floors should be done today and I'll try posting some new pictures soon.
