Aquarium

Today my mom and I took Chase to the Aquarium. I think he really enjoyed it! He got most excited over the the fish that could swim over his head, the sea otter and the fish that look like his Nemo toy. His favorite parts were at the beginning and the end where they have the HUGE fish tanks filled with lots of fish.

I was a little worried about how Chase was going to do since I had to wake him up early from his nap in order to have enough time at the Aquarium. But he did GREAT!

Thanks Mammy and PawPaw for giving Chase the Audubon Membership for his birthday so we can go back to the aquarium and zoo all year long!!!

BIG Playdate!

Today Chase and I went to the Southshore to meet up with a couple of friends for one big play date. Kerri and her 3 kiddos were in town from Texas, so we got to meet the new addition, Liam.

Chase had a blast playing with all of the other children and especially yelling for the doggie in the backyard.

Thanks Sherry for hosting today!

Puppy Love

Tonight Shane had a Fantasy Football draft party on the Southshore. Stephanie's husband, Brian, was attending the same party so we decided today that we should meet up for dinner and rent a movie after Chase went to bed tonight.

Before dinner, I brought Chase over to Stephanie's house to play with their baby, Maddie. Chase LOVED her. He kept climbing into her doggie bed and cuddling with Maddie. It was sooooo cute. But don't worry, we're still not getting a dog!

Birthday Weekend

Last Wednesday was my 29th birthday. Shane and I celebrated this weekend by going to the Mississippi GulfCoast. We had a nice relaxing day by the pool, went and saw a show at the Beau Rivage and later met up with Jamie, Julie, Shelia & Roz and danced the night away listening to a 70s band.

We had a lot of fun, but it took us all day to recover yesterday. Luckily Chase was a good boy for us. He had such a fun time playing with Maw Maw and Pops this weekend, as well as his girls next door, Megan and Julia.

A special thanks to Maw Maw and Pops for staying with Chase this weekend!

1 Year Check Up

Chase had his 1 year doctor's check up this morning. He weighed in at 23.5 lbs (50-75th percentile) and over 31 inches long (75th percentile). Dr. Gioe said everything looked great and it's now time to start giving him vitamins with fluoride.

Chase got 2 shots today (measles, chicken pox and Hep A). He cried for the shots, but was fine as soon as we walked out the doctor's office. I still can't believe he's already a year old!

Weekend with the McCarthy's!

Chase was able to spend this weekend with his 2 cousins from the McCarthy side of the family...Max and Evan. Chase has only met them once before (at Christmas)because they live in Dallas, so it was a special weekend. The 3 McCarthy boys were quite entertaining together. Chase also had a great time bonding with his Uncle Scott and Aunt Angie.

Here are some pics from the weekend:

Tubes-Day

This morning Chase had his ear tubes surgery. It was a real tough morning for me. Chase woke up in the best mood, happy as can be...I hated to do this to him. When the doctors took him away, my emotions got the best of me. It's just not natural for a Mamma to give her baby away.

It took a long time for Chase to come to and wake up. He screamed and cried for about 3 1/2 hours before he snapped out of it.

I think he is finally starting to feel better, but still not 100%. Thanks for all your prayers.

Here are a couple of pics I took a few minutes ago once he started playing again.

GO SAINTS!

Chase is all set for tonight's first pre-season Saints game! He gets to watch it with his Uncle Sean since he is in town this weekend.

Thanks Nanny and PanPan for my new Reggie Bush jersey!

Chase's Birthday Party

Yesterday we celebrated Chase's birthday with lots of family and friends. The party was a big success. We had 2 pools, a waterslide, a bounce house, swingset and Mr. Snowball. The kids were running around like crazy and Chase had a great time.

Thanks to everyone for coming!

Birthday Celebration!

I think overall, the Chase-Man had a great first birthday.

This morning we went to the ENT. After hearing Chase's history, she said "enough is enough" and that it was time for him to get tubes and start feeling better. His surgery is scheduled for Tuesday, August 7th.

This afternoon, Chase and I went downtown to visit Shane at work. Then the 3 of us walked 8 blocks in the beating heat to the Aquarium. I was really excited about taking Chase to see all of the fish. Once we got there, we were informed that the Aquarium was closed early for a special event. I was so upset! So we had to walk 8 more blocks back to our cars. Shane and I were dripping with sweat and Chase's cheeks were beet red.

But we still had a great birthday. We went to MawMaw and Pops house for dinner and cake. Chase LOVED the frosting on the cake...he was a mess. It was hilarious!

Happy 1st Birthday, Chase!

I cannot believe that Chase is 1 year old today! Where did my little baby go?

It's amazing how much this little boy has changed my life and the person that I have become. Chase makes Shane and I so happy and has us laughing every day. It's so funny to see such a little person with my face on Shane's body frame. I think Chase is the perfect mix of both of us.

The Big Boy didn't know what to think of the candle in his waffle as Mamma and Dadda sang Happy Birthday to him this morning :-)

Here is Chase at his 1 week and 1 year lamb picture:

Just some of the lessons that I have learned over the past year:
•Grandparents are the best!
•You may lose your pregnancy weight, but you’re body will NEVER be the same
•Limit the “Wait Until…” stories to new moms
•Doctors don’t know everything, most often a mother’s instinct is best
•Children’s music is a MUST have
•Dropping your child off at daycare for the first time is one of the hardest things to do
•Sick babies often pass their cooties onto Mamma and Dadda
•Babies’ poop smells just as bad as grown up poop!
•A baby with reflux should not have carpet in the bedroom
•Never, Never, Ever touch a strange baby’s hands
•The best tricks for a screaming baby…take them outside or show them a light fixture
•Sometimes the empty box is more fun than the toy that came inside of it
•Nothing melts your heart more than a baby’s laugh
•That video camera is just not going to get as much use as you thought it would
•When a toddler is quiet, it usually means he’s up to no good
•There is no worse feeling than watching your baby scream in pain and you have no idea what to do
•Going out for errands requires a lot of pre-planning and packing
•My child’s accomplishments become my own
•A little boy's favorite toy in the tub is his very own do-la-le
