Family Night

Shane and I rarely take Chase out to dinner with us, especially since he's no longer a baby who sleeps in his infant carrier.

Last night we decided that since Chase can now eat real food it was time to have a family night out. Of course this meant an early dinner for us, but that was fine.

I was a little worried about Chase being able to sit still in the high chair the entire meal, especially so close to his bed time. So we opted for Osaka's Hibachi Grill. What a great idea!!! Chase was so entertained by the grill chefs, the fire, the noise and they even tied a balloon to his chair which kept him occupied for a long time.

Chase LOVED everything we fed him. First the grill chef seperated some scrambled eggs from the fried rice and put it on my plate for Chase. Then we let him try the steak, terryaki chicken, zucchini, mushrooms and fried rice. He ate it up!!!

Overall, it was a very nice evening and I was so happy that Chase seemed to enjoy it too. Mamma and Dadda even enjoyed a couple of adult beverages.

I highly recommend taking your little one to the hibachi grill..they will love it.

The Good & The Bad

The good news is that this morning we took Chase to have some 1 year portraits taken. I want a 16 x 20 posed wall portrait of each of my children when they turn a year old to hang in my home (yes, I do plan on having more kids one day) :-)

I can't wait to see the pics, I get to pick up the proofs on Wednesday.

Now the bad news. I took Chase to his follow up doctor's appointment today. He was supposed to have his ear re-checked from an ear infection he had a couple of weeks ago. I knew the infection had cleared last week because I had it checked when I took him back to the doctors for a rash he had (yes, we pretty much live at the doctor's office). The doctor said everything looked great.

Well, I noticed he felt warm this afternoon. When I took his temperature, he had a fever of 102. When they checked his ears today, the left ear was pink and the right ear was bulging it was so inflamed. YIKES, I had no idea!

So Dr. Gioe said that since this was his 4th ear infection since March and that they get worse every time, we need to go see an ENT and Chase will probably need tubes in his ears.

I am wondering if they are able to put him under for the tubes as well as when he has his surgery in October. Is it safe to put such a young child under anesthesia twice in such a short time frame???

I know things could be a lot worse, but I just feel like my poor sweet pea can't ever catch a break. He is such a happy baby when he is feeling well, that it breaks my heart to always see him so sick.

I will be sure to keep you all posted on the ENT visit. That appointment is scheduled on August 1st...Chase's 1st birthday. Poor Baby!

Where's Dada?

Chase was mesmerized by Shane cutting the grass today. He stood by the window the entire time watching. Every time Shane got close, Chase would smile. And when Shane was out of Chase's view, he would beat on the window and yell "Dada"! It was hilarious and kept Chase entertained for 20 minutes!

This afternoon, Maw Maw and Pops came over to visit with Chase and brought over dinner. We had a very nice time playing together.

Recent Pics

I'm not quite sure what Chase does in his sleep, but when he wakes up from his naps his hair is CRAZY!

Chase has really been making me laugh lately. He is so stinkin' funny. He screaches, makes hilarious facial expressions, walks around the house holding his toys or a toothbrush talking non stop, loves to play peek-a-boo and "I'm gonna get you", dances like Elvis and eats more than any other baby I know!

One thing is for sure...Chase has LOTS of personality. When he's happy, he lets us know. When he's mad, he lets us know for sure. He has actually started throwing some serious temper tantrums. All Shane and I can do is laugh because we find it quite comical.

I know everyone says this, but it just has been SO MUCH FUN lately. These last couple of months with Chase have been a lot easier and very enjoyable. I just love this little guy!

Thank You, Pan Pan!

Shane and I bought Chase a big boy swing set for his birthday. We know he won't be able to use a lot of it for some time, but so far he seems to really like it!

Pan Pan came over Friday at 2:00 and started working on the swing. He worked until 8:00 last night and started again at 7:00 this morning. He was finished by 10:00 (with a little help from Shane and I).

Pan Pan did such a great job and we appreciate everything he did...Thank you so much!

Chase's 1st Hair Cut

Today we had to go across the lake for Chase's follow up appointment with the pediatric urologist. We are all set to schedule his surgery for his hernia and descended testicle (and once again Shane and I started giggling like little kids when the doctor was talking to us because apparently we are too immature to talk about those body parts and maintain a straight face).

After the appointment, we took Chase for his very first hair cut. First Chase watched as Dada got his hair cut and then it was his turn. It's safe to say that Chase did NOT enjoy this experience. He screamed the entire time.

We won't be doing this again for a while, but now his hair is all cleaned up for his 1 year portraits! He looks like a big boy with his new do!

Oh, and the deal with the toothbrush...Chase thinks it's a toy and likes eating it. I thought it might keep him entertained.

Chase got a new pair of shoes!

Chase got his first pair of big boy shoes today. It was so funny to see him take his first step with shoes on. He was walking as if he had flippers on his feet.

I'm guessing there is an adjusting period, because he is less stable with shoes on.

Also, they don't make very cute shoes for new walkers. The selection was not very large. The saleswoman told me not to get an open toe shoe if he is still crawling because he will scrape his toes. She also recommended only buying 1 pair of shoes because he will soon grow out of them.

So I went with the most practical pair...stride rite, brown sandals. But to be honest, I'd much rather see him in a more "manly" pair of shoes like some tennis shoes or something! These are just too fancy for my taste.

Anyway, here are some pics and a video of Chase walking in his new shoes. A size 5, 1 wide (for those chubby toes)!!

Happy 11 Months!

Chase turned 11 months old today! I can't believe how big he's getting.

Next month will be his last official lamb chair pic...and that's a good thing because it becomes increasingly difficult each month to get Chase to sit in his chair. Chase has never been one to sit still, and now that he can walk, it's nearly impossible.

Well here are his lamb chair pics today at 11 months and on June 1st at 10 months. I don't think he's gotten much longer, but defintely wider :-) The child has been eating like crazy and I think these pictures prove it!
