Hillbilly Chase

Today we went to my sister's house in Mississippi to celebrate Jalyn's 6th birthday. It was the first time Chase was on good behavior at her house.

Chase and his Pan Pan (my brother-in-law, Chad) had a great time playing together. When I wasn't looking, Chad took Chase on his first 4-wheeler ride. Chase LOVED it! Chad said that every time he would accelerate, Chase would open his mouth and try to eat the air. My sister said that now she's going to get Chase a pair of overalls for his 1st birthday. I requested that they were at least plaid :-)

Mr. and Mrs. Alker

Last night we went to a wedding on the Northshore. A close family friend was married last night, so my entire family was invited. Unfortuantely, two of my sisters couldn't make the wedding. But don't worry, that didn't stop the Perilloux family from taking over the dance floor. The best part of the night is when Shane put down his drink and did the gator on the floor. It was hilarious. I just hope we didn't embarass the Alkers :-)

Nap Time!

This morning, Chase woke up bright and early at 5:45 am! Needless to say when it was time for his morning nap, he was extremely fussy. He fought going to bed so hard and refused to lay down and go to sleep. He finally fell asleep sitting up and kind of fell over. He's so funny (and stubborn)!

YUMMY!

Looks like Chase really enjoyed his Biter Biscuit this morning!

Beach Trip!

This week, we took Chase on his very first beach trip. We spent the week in Destin with Jamie & Taylor Jernigan, Christy, Collins & Conner Bourg and Jennifer & Jack Walker met us for a couple of days, too.

Chase did great. He loved the beach and the sand (he kept trying to eat it). But it was a major reality check for both Shane and I. Taking a 9 month old to the beach isn't much of a VACATION. It was a lot of work and we didn't get to spend very much time in the sun, but we still had a great time.

While we were there, Chase accomplished the following:

- He said Mama
- He's kind of waving bye-bye
- And he took his very first step (just once)!!!

He is growing so fast, I'm afraid to blink.

Here are some pics from the trip (sorry, it's a lot)

Happy Mother's Day!

Today was a very special day for me since it was my first time to celebrate Mother's Day as a momma. I am so lucky to be blessed with such a wonderful family. I never knew how much I could love someone until Shane and I had Chase. Our love for him and each other multiplies every day.

Chase and Shane gave me a nice morning by letting me sleep in and getting me my favorite cup of joe, Starbucks White Chocolate Mocha!!! They also gave me a sweet card with a large gift certificate for Starbucks!!!

The beautiful flowers are from my in-laws. They had the lovely bouquet delivered to me yesterday in appreciation of Chase. Thank you so much Milo & Jackie!

We celebrated the day at my parents’ house with some delicious crawfish that my dad boiled (he boils the best mudbugs in town)! We had such a nice day!

I want to give a special happy mother’s day wish to my mom and Shane’s mom. You both have been such a huge help over these past 9 months and given us great advice. We are so lucky to have the both of you as our teachers! We love you!

Shane Turns the Big 3 - 0!

Shane said goodbye to his 20's and welcomed his 30s on this past Saturday. To celebrate, I surprised Shane with a weekend trip to New York. It was our first trip away from Chase!

Although it was just 3 short days, we packed in a play on broadway, a Yankees game where we were practically sitting on the field (thanks, Milo!) and several good meals and drinks! Plus, we were able to sleep in late each morning and get dressed alone without trying to rush and plan around Chase's schedule.
My heart ached for Chase the entire trip, but it was really nice spending some adult time alone with Shane.

Happy 30th Birthday, Sweetie...I hope you enjoyed every minute of it!

Thank you so much to Mammy, Maw Maw and Pops who all took such great care of Chase while we were gone! We're so lucky to have such great parents!

9 Months!

Today Chase turned 9 months old. When we tried taking his monthly lamb picture, he gave us quite a challenge. Our little man wants to walk so bad, he thinks he's such a big boy :-)
